Resources for laid-off workers

Apr 23rd, 2009 by admin

I didn’t belong to the newspaper union when I was laid off last June, but the union helped me out tremendously when I was laid off. I’m thinking of joining a freelancers’ union in San Francisco.

The California Labor Commission has a tip sheet on what to do when you get laid off and where to find help for unemployment insurance, health insurance, keeping your home, finding work and retraining. It’ s another great site that a union has put together to help the unemployed get back on their feet.
